Well, now that the Yoshinobu Yamamoto saga has come to an end and he’s going to baseball’s version of The Avengers in Los Angeles, the Mets, Yankees and everyone else in the mix can move on.

There are still plenty of free agents on the board without a new home. What will the Mets do next? Where do the Yankees pivot?

Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman discuss all of that and give out their own year-end baseball awards on a new episode of “The Show” podcast.

‘The Show’ podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:

  • YAMAMOTO TO DODGERS: He always wanted to go to the Dodgers. Money definitely played a major factor and being in Los Angeles.
  • YANKEES PLANS: Where do the Yankees go now in free agency?
  • METS PLANS: Mets are harder to predict. They are not a competitive team right now and need to get a few starting pitchers. They need to get bullpen help to get the ball to Edwin Diaz.
  • YEAR-END AWARDS: Jon gives biggest hero of the year to Diamondbacks GM Mike Hazen. Biggest villain is Athletics owner Jon Fisher. Jon gives biggest breakout to Bobby Witt Jr. Joel gives it to the Orioles. Jon gives biggest disappointment to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Joel gives it to the Mets, Yankees and Padres. Worst transaction was Carlos Rodon. Shohei Ohtani is the story of the year, winning MVP and then getting a record $700 million contract.
