The Wizards delivered an all-time bad beat to their backers during a disastrous loss to the Raptors on Monday night.
Washington, which was +280 moneyline with a team total of 110.5 points (BetMGM) heading into the contest, had a comfortable 106-90 lead with 7:25 left in the game.
But that’s when things took a turn for the worse.
The Wizards scored just one point the rest of the way, blowing the game and giving Toronto a 111-107 win while falling short of the over by four points.
That singular point came off a free throw by Washington forward Kyle Kuzma with 5:47 left in the game, part of the 34 he scored, including 12 coming off 3-point shots.
Washington, which led by as much as 23 in the game, had a 99 percent win probability in the fourth quarter, according to ESPN Analytics, before the Raptors’ game-ending 21-1 run.
The Wizards shot 0-10 from the field and turned the ball over five times during the final 7:25.
The loss continues what has been an atrocious start to the 2023-24 NBA season for Washington.

The Wizards’ 2-8 record heading into Tuesday’s play is tied with the Memphis Grizzlies for the second-worst in the league, just ahead of the 2-9 Detroit Pistons.
Heading into the season, the Wizards were projected by most sportsbooks to be the worst team in the NBA.
Washington’s win total over/under of 24.5 wins was a full three games lower than the Pistons, who had the next-fewest projected wins with 27.5 at DraftKings Sportsbook.
