Victor Wembanyama’s security guard accused in Britney Spears slapping incident

A member of Victor Wembanyama’s security detail is accused of backhand slapping Britney Spears – yes, the Britney Spears – after the pop star asked the NBA rookie for a picture in Las Vegas, according to TMZ.

Spears, 41, allegedly tried to get a photo with Wembanyama, 19, at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel in Vegas, approaching the European basketball star and tapping him on his shoulder.

According to TMZ, the incident unfolded the instant Spears tapped the 7-foot-4 rookie.

Damian Smith — the Director of Team Security for the Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs — responded, and Spears fell to the ground and her glasses off her face as a result of the interaction.

Footage reviewed by authorities apparently shows Smith pushing Spears’ hand away, with the pop icon’s hand hitting her face.

Police are expected to meet with Spears on Thursday morning in relation to the incident, according to TMZ.

Spears reportedly “composed herself” and walked back to her table after the alleged incident, at which point the security guard came over and apologized, saying, “You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.”

Spears apparently accepted the apology and spent time with the security guard – but after dinner, went to the police and filed an incident report for battery.

The incident “is not being handled as a criminal matter,” TMZ reported Thursday, citing sources, because authorities found Smith was attempting to defend Wembanyama and did not intend to harm Spears.

TMZ reported that Spears is a fan of Wembanyama and wanted a photo with him.

Wembanyama, a highly hyped prospect from France, was selected first overall by the Spurs in the 2023 NBA Draft last month.

He is scheduled to make his Summer League debut for the Spurs in Vegas on Friday.

Spears is said to have gone to the Vegas hotspot with her husband, Sam Asghari, and two others.

The couple recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary, with the 29-year-old Asghari commemorating the occasion on social media.

“Happy 1 year to me & my better half,” he posted in a June 9 Instagram Story.

Spears and Asghari, a model, tied the knot in June 2022.

She was previously married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007.

They share two sons: Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16.

Prior to her second marriage to Federline, 45, Spears wed childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004.

The wedding was annulled 55 hours later.

The Spurs did not immediately return The Post’s request for comment.
