When is NBA Draft 2023 and how to watch: Start time, channel, streaming

There will be no surprises when the first pick in the NBA Draft is read on Thursday night.

By all accounts, it will be Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-4 French 19-year-old who is being hailed as the NBA’s next generational talent.

Wembanyama, who is essentially locked in to be selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the No. 1 pick, just finished a season with the Metropolitans 92 of the French Betclic Elite League in which he averaged 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, and three blocks, helping lead the team to LNB Pro A Finals.

Following Wembanyama, however, there will be considerable intrigue with the next two picks.

The Charlotte Hornets hold the second overall pick, and they are expected to pick between Brandon Miller of Alabama and Scoot Henderson of the G League Ignite, each of whom they worked out and interviewed for a second time on Monday.

Miller, a 6-foot-9 wing who averaged 18.8 points in his freshman season at Alabama, has already been mired in a scandal — Tuscaloosa police testified in February that he provided former teammate Darius Miles with a gun in a deadly shooting.

Henderson is a 6-foot-2 guard who notched 16.5 points and 6.8 assists per game in the G League, flashing elite athleticism that has attracted many suitors around the league.

Meanwhile, Portland Trail Blazers have been rumored to be shopping the third pick in the draft, potentially including it in a package with Anfernee Simons to entice franchise superstar Damian Lillard to stay in Portland.
