Kristaps Porzingis spends hectic Celtics trade day relaxing with girlfriend

Kristaps Porzingis was enjoying summertime in Latvia while NBA Twitter was freaking out over the impending three-team deal that will send him to the Celtics.

The Wizards center was swimming outdoors with his girlfriend, Laura Vizla, and friends on Wednesday, according to a clip Vizla posted to her Instagram Story.

The 7-foot-3 Latvian was seen shirtless while walking through the shallow water at Venta Rapid, a waterfall on the Venta River in Kuldīga, Latvia.

“Summertime in Latvia,” Vizla wrote over the video.

Before that, the couple enjoyed local European cuisine at Bangert’s Restaurant in Kuldīga.

Meanwhile, NBA Twitter was buzzing about Porzingis being at the center of a three-team blockbuster with the Wizards, Celtics and Grizzlies.

After one blockbuster three-team trade involving Porzingis and the Clippers collapsed, the Celtics are now finalizing a new three-team deal to land the Latvian big man, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported late Wednesday night.

In the deal, Memphis is sending Boston a 2023 first-round pick (No. 25), and the Warriors’ top-four protected first-round pick in 2024 for veteran guard Marcus Smart.

The Wizards receive guard Tyus Jones, forward Danilo Gallinari, center Mike Muscala and a 2023 35th overall pick.

The three-team deal came together in the minutes leading up to a midnight ET deadline for Porzingis to opt in to his $36 million player option for the 2023-24 season, according to Wojnarowski.

Porzingis opted in.

In a previous deal that fell through, the Celtics and Wizards attempted to work out a possible Porzingis trade with the Clippers that would have sent Malcolm Brogdon to Los Angeles, the 30th pick in the draft to the Wizards and Porzingis to the Celtics.

Porzingis last played on April 6, when he put up 26 points and 18 rebounds in a loss to the Hawks.

He made his debut with the Wizards on March 6 after the Mavericks traded him and a protected 2022 second-round pick to Washington in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans at the trade deadline in February.

Vizla has supported Porzingis publicly since he made the relationship Instagram official in September 2021.

It’s unclear when the fairly private pair got together, although it’s been reported that they met in the summer of 2019.

In April, the couple cozied up at Casa Malca, a luxury hotel in Tulum, according to photos shared by the former Knicks star to his Instagram account.

Porzingis turns 28 in August.
